The Youth Chair offers a lecture on suicide prevention among grade schoolers

Laura Lacomba Trejo, member of the Youth Chair, gave the conference "Suicide prevention in schools" at the Mancomunitat de les Valls.

The training addressed the keys for understanding and preventing suicide in teenagers and young people.

This initiative was funded by the Mancomunidad de les Valls and aimed at people who work or live with young people, especially teachers and families.

In order to make the training accessible to as much population as possible, the conference was held twice. 29 November in Quart de les Valls and 20 December in Benavites.

Laura Lacomba-Trejo is full-time trainee lecturer at the Department of Developmental and Educational Psychology of the Universitat de València. She holds a degree in Psychology, a Master's Degree in General Health Psychology, and a PhD in Psychology Research from the Universitat de València. Besides, she holds an Expert in Accompaniment and Intervention in Grief Processes and a University Expert in Adult Education Methodology, both from the European University Miguel de Cervantes. 

Her research and clinical practice have focused on the psychology of health throughout the life cycle, especially the importance of family and emotional attachments for physical and emotional adjustment. Her interests are in child and youth populations, family, adverse childhood, grief, suicide prevention, and attachment. She has participated in many national and international research projects. Currently, she has published more than 90 articles, more than 40 contributions in books or book chapters, and more than 180 contributions in national or international congresses. As a result, she has received several awards for the scientific and technical quality of her contributions, including the Entrepreneurial Psychologists Award: Young Researchers modality, granted by the General Council of Psychology of Spain and the Spanish Foundation for the Promotion and Scientific and Professional Development of Psychology.
