Born in Cornellá de Llobregat (Barcelona), Spain on 08/11/1959. Graduated in Mathematics by University of Zaragoza (July1982) and Doctor in Mathematics for the University of Zaragoza (October1985). PhD Thesis developed under the supervision of José Luis Rubio de Francia. I was an Assistant professor (Profesor Titular de Universidad) in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Zaragoza from 22 March de 1989, until 8 March 1992. I became Full Professor (Catedrático de Universidad) in the Department of Mathematical Analysis at the University of Valencia in March 1992. Position that I have until now.
During all these years I have occupied different positions: Visiting Research Associate at Illinois University (Urbana, Illinois, U.S.A). 1986-87), "Fellowship" at Mathematical Sciences Research Institute, (Berkeley, California, U.S.A.) 1987-88, “Visiting professor” at University of Auburn (Alabama, USA) for a quarter in 1989, "Visiting Scholar" at Washington University, (Saint Louis, Missouri, U.S.A). (May,1998). I also enjoyed two grants "Becas de Movilidad de profesorado de la Generalitat Valenciana" at University of Iowa, (Iowa City, Iowa U.S.A.) (April-May 2000 and at the University of York, (York, U.K.) (April-May 2001) and two more grants from the Spanish Government "Becas de Movilidad de profesorado del Ministerio de Educación" one at the University of York, (York, U.K.) (March-July 2002) and another one at University of Edinburgh, (Edinburgh, U.K.) (Sept 2006-March 2007). My last long research stay was in 2018 when I was on leave for a semester in India (with several short stays in the Indian Institute of Technology (Kanpur), the Indian Statistic Institute (Kolkata), the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (Bhopal))g.
I have been adviser of several PhD thesis concerning different subjects, for instance on theory of weights and atomic decompositions (J.L. Ansorena), on vector-valued multipliers (J.L. Arregui), on interpolation and Banach space theory (T. Signes), on vector measures (P. Gregori), on bilinear integration (J. Calabuig), on the bilinear Hilbert transform (P. Villarroya), on operator-valued multipliers (C. Zaragoza) and on matricial harmonic analysis (I. García-Bayona).
Besides the collaborations with my PhD students, I have participated and initiated some lines of research in Harmonic and Functional Analysis with several prestigious researchers from other countries (for instance A. Pelczynski , Q. Xu , S. Pott, A. Gillespie, E. Berkson, G. Dales, M. Pavlovic, S. Perez-Esteva, M. Lindstrom , J. Taskinen, A. Karapetyants and J. Restrepo among others) and from Spain (for instance M. Contreras, S. Diaz, G. Garrigós, E. Hernandez, P. Berna, L. Vega, A. Ruiz, J. Garcia-Cuerva among other).
Besides my participation in European and regional projects, I have been the main researcher (IP) for projects supported by the Spanish Government from 1990 until 2022.
Nowadays I work on several areas related with analysis, mainly in Fourier Analysis (weighted inequalities, bilinear multipliers,...), Geometry of Banach spaces (geometric properties such as UMD, B-convexity, type and cotype,..), operator ideals (linear and multilinear summing operators and relatives), function spaces and spaces of analytic functions (BMO, Bloch, Hardy, Bergman, Fock spaces,…), classical operators (multipliers, composition operators, Toeplitz operators, …), infinite dimensional holomorphic functions (Bloch and composition operators) and matricial harmonic analysis (operator-valued matrices and spaces). among others. |
