Professors María Amparo Díez (Vice-Dean) and Rosa María Hernández (Mobility Coordinator for the Bachelor’s Degree in Optics and Optometry) from the Universitat de València have completed a teaching mobility visit at the Transilvania University of Brașov (UNITBV, Romania) under the ERASMUS+ program.

This academic mobility (18 to 25 May 2026) primarily aims to strengthen the international reach of training in Optometry and Vision Sciences, promoting a global perspective on visual health.

The core objective of the visit was to lay the groundwork for a specific ERASMUS+ agreement to facilitate a bilateral exchange of both students and teaching staff. Additionally, the mobility included a technical visit to the state-of-the-art research center that Transilvania University operates on the outskirts of Brașov.

Furthermore, an in-depth comparative analysis of the curricular evolution of Optometry studies at UV and UNITBV was conducted. This study identified key points of convergence in their curricula and evaluated the compatibility between technical and clinical competencies, ensuring that future exchanges maintain the highest academic standards.

Ultimately, the visit consolidates a strategic collaboration network designed to foster joint research and the internationalization of the curriculum for future optometrists at both universities. Higher education internationalization serves as an essential driver of academic excellence within the European Higher Education Area. In this regard, the mobility of optometrists within Europe is key to harmonizing clinical skills, ensuring cutting-edge care based on shared international standards.
