On the 26th of July 2024, the student of the PhD Programme in ‘Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling’ Javier Carmona García successfully defended his doctoral thesis entitled: "Atmospheric chemistry of mercury and sulfur induced by sunlight: Quantum-chemical modelling and environmental implications", supervised by Dr. Daniel Roca Sanjuán, PDI member of the Department of Physical Chemistry, and Dr. Alfonso Saiz López, Research Professor at the Institute of Physical Chemistry Blas Cabrera (CSIC) in Madrid. The examination panel, comprising Professor Joseph S. Francisco from the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Begoña Milián Medina, PDI member of the Department of Physical Chemistry, and Dr. Lara Martínez Fernández, Tenured Scientist at the Institute of Physical Chemistry Blas Cabrera (CSIC) in Madrid, awarded the student's thesis the grade of "outstanding".
