The handball team of the Universitat de València is proclaimed runner-up of the University Spain Championship, hold in León between the 26 and 29 of April.

The team by Sagrario Santana and Juan Ángel Perdigón, opened the Championship the 26 of April with a victory against the Universitat Politècnica de Valencia, with a result of 19-28. The second game of the group phase faced the Valencian team with the Universidad de Alcalá, and after a great match, the Universitat de València closed the score board with a 43-20.

The pass to the final depended on the third game of the mini-league versus the host team, the Universidad de León. The team of Santana, aware of the prizes, played a very good game and closed it with a draw in a very close match. This was reflected on the final result, a 25-25 that left León in the second position of the group and gave the Valencian team the pass to the national final.

During today’s morning, the team of the Universitat de València did their best but couldn’t beat the Universidad de Málaga in the final (15-26) and closed the Championship with the silver medal.

As on previous university sports occasions, the Physical Education and Sports Service offered live coverage and monitoring of the handball teams through its web page (www.uv.es/sef) and its social networks (Twitter: @sefuv and www.facebook.com/SEFUV) in which all the fans could find immediate information on the results of the matches, feelings and statements of the protagonists.
