Dr. Veronica Zingales, postdoctoral researcher of the RiskTox group at the UV, has been awarded by the European Society of Toxicology In Vitro (ESTIV) with the Early Career Award for her research in toxicology focused on the study by in vitro methods of the toxicity of natural contaminants in food and their effects on human health.

The award ceremony took place during the 22nd International Congress of the ESTIV, held in Prague from 3 to 6 June 2024. The award was presented by Dr Helena Kanďárová, President of ESTIV, and Dr Clive Roper, Chair of the Scientific Committee of the ESTIV 2024 Congress. Following the award ceremony, Dr Zingales gave a lecture entitled: ‘From toxicological three-dimensional models and microfluidics: the impact of the culture system on the toxicological evaluation of food contaminants’. The conference was also attended by Dr. María José Ruiz, director of the RiskTox research group, and the PhD students Mercedes Taroncher and Raquel Penalva from the RiskTox group.
