Academic tribute to Professor Ángel López García-Molins on the occasion of his retirement, focusing on the coexistence of languages in Spain, perceptual linguistics, and his humanistic perspective.
On the occasion of the retirement of Professor Ángel López García-Molins, the Area of General Linguistics at the University of Valencia is organising an academic tribute to recognise his intellectual, teaching, and humanistic career.
The event will take place on Friday, 27 February 2026, in the Saló de Graus Enric Valor of the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication. It is a tribute organized by colleagues from the area, with the collaboration of the Department of Theory of Languages and Communication Sciences and the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication. The tribute aims to highlight some of the most significant lines of research developed by Professor López García-Molins throughout his career.
The programme is structured around two of the major axes that have marked his scholarly output: the difficult coexistence of the languages of Spain and perceptual linguistics. Both topics will be addressed in round tables with the participation of specialists from different universities and research centres.
In addition, the tribute includes a section devoted to the humanistic dimension of Professor López García-Molins, highlighting his contributions to essay writing, outreach, journalism, and translation—areas in which his work has had a notable social impact.
