‘Trencant en verd’, the most voted reform project of the Tarongers Campus

On Monday 20 October, the principal Mavi Mestre presented the outcome of the voting regarding the reform projects of the Tarongers Campus, that have been voted by the university community for the first time

In the principal election process, the candidacy led by the current principal, Mª Vicenta Mestre, proposed a Tarongers Campus reform so as to making it more sustainable and arranged for the needs of the activities development and of the daily life of the university community.

 

This reform agreement has resulted from the meetings held with the four faculties of the campus (Social Sciences, Law, Economics and Teacher Training) for analysing and stablishing the space needs in the whole campus. In this reform agreement was the commitment of the UV government team of submitting the different projects for the consideration of the people who spend their daily life on the campus.

 

The last 19 September the principal presented the finalist projects of the selection process, and the electronic voting process started. It was carried out through a single personal voting link accessible for the PDI (Teaching and Research Staff), PAS (Administrative and Service Staff) and for the campus students.

 

In this way, for the first time in history, the university community of the Tarongers campus has taken part in the decision that will determine the future of the campus. They had to decide between three projects previously selected by a jury leaded by the vice-principal of Economics and infrastructures, Justo Herrera. In this decision also participated the dean of Campus and of the Faculty of Teacher Training, Ana Botella, as a Secretary, as well as a total of thirteen members. Chief amongst these were the deans of the Tarongers Campus, the chief of the Management Unit, the director and assistant director of the UV Technical Unit and the chief of the Maintenance Service of the University, the director of the University Botanical Garden, the deputy general manager of the Coordination Service, and people suggested by the Valencia School of Architecture, the Architect School and the Valencia City Council.

 

These three selected project were Hèspera, Obrint Pas and Trencant en Verd:

The result of the voting process was: Obrint Pas, 15,86% of the votes, Hèspera, 18,33% of the votes and, with the 65,81% of the votes, Trencant en Verd has been the winner.

 

According to the tender requirements, the winner project will receive 8.000€, the second project 4.000€ and the third project 2.000€.

 

The principal of the Universitat de València, Maria Vicenta Mestre, has expressed her gratitude to the jury and to the university maintenance service for their work. Specially to the Web and Marketing Unit (UWM) that has created the voting system through available applications at the University that run in the UV Data Processing Centre. She has also appreciated the work of the Audiovisual Studio (TAU) and of the UWM in the content development for the vote promotion.

 

The principal has also declared that ‘the administrative tasks for the commissioning of the final project, which are the starting point for the planning permissions and for the arrangement of the intervention plan, will start this year’.
