The Monte Romero Stadium of Murcia held the Spanish University Athletics Championship 2022 (CEU) on May 7th and 8th.

In triple jump, María González Sanchis (UV) won the gold medal with a mark of 12.972 m. The silver medal went to Samira Zarhoul from the University of Extremadura, who achieved a jump of 12.75 m. The bronze medal went to Andreea Florina, from the Universitat Rovira i Virgili, with a mark of 12,40 m. Claudia Martinez Olcina, from the Universitat de València, also competed in this discipline and finished in 16th place.

The athlete Carmen Marco Mora, from the Universitat de València, won the gold medal in 100 m with a time of 11,55 seconds. In women’s 800 m, the first place also went to the UV thanks to the performance of Yurena Hueso García, who achieved the gold medal by going through the 800-meters dash in 2:09.31 minutes. Andrea Rodríguez Castelló (UV) also did a great job in this modality, finishing in 5th place with a time of 2:13.13.

In the men’s competition, Diego Rosalén Sánchez (UV) won the bronze medal in pole vaulting with a jump of 5 meters. And, in javelin throw, Hodei Oyanguren Monferrer (UV) achieved the third place by throwing the javelin 64.14 m.

The rest of athletes of the Universitat de València did not achieve a place in the podium, but did a great job in the championship. In the men’s categories, Enrique Herreros Roig (8th place) and Carlos Muñoz Lacedón (10th place) participated in the 1500-meters dash. Pablo Drees Giménez finished in 5th place in 400 m hurdles and Francisco Sospedra Escat finished in 10th place in 10,000 m race walking, with a time of 47:54.99.

In the women’s categories, three athletes from the UV participated in the 1500-meters dash: Raquel Echeverría San Martín (5th place), Ainhoa Martin González (9th) and Lucia Sillas González (11th). In 5000 m, Ana Borràs Montagud finished in 8th place, while Nuria Conejos García finished in 5th place in 10,000 m. In hurdles, Havana Allistone-Greaves finished in 4th place, and Nara Elipe Esteller finished in 4th place in the 3000 m steeplechase. Carmen Marín Peiró competed in high jump and obtained a 15th place, while Lola Cortina Piacentini finished in 7th place in pole vaulting. Pilar Pons Serra represented the Universitat de València in long jump and finished in 10th place. Sandra Ferriz Simarro achieved the 9th place in shot put and the 7th place in discus throw. In hammer throw, Cristina Adela Roberts Nadal finished in 5th place. Finally, in 5000 m race walking, the runner of the UV María Muñoz Bartual finished in 10th place.
