The monographs in this volume address some of today’s most pressing issues, such as the impact of climate change on the world’s drylands or the need to address public health challenges from a multidisciplinary perspective. To understand the impact of a globalised world on health and the environment, it is necessary to look back and ask how societies have evolved to where they are today. Science also shows us that beauty and art are not purely cultural, philosophical or humanistic domains, and that fields such as biology are essential in determining what we consider beautiful.

The monographs are coordinated by professors Jaime Martínez Valderrama, Emilio Guirado and Fernando T. Maestre from University of Alicante; Jaume Bertranpetit (Pompeu Fabra University) and Juli Peretó (University of Valencia); Teresa L. Thompson (University of Dayton, USA), and Raquel Ortells and Eduardo M. García-Roger (University of Valencia).

The volume features the collaboration of Enric Ruscadella, who illustrates the cover with his work Isle of salt. The volume also includes the pieces that have accompanied the texts of the four monographs, with works by artists such as Esteve Adam, Vicente Ortí, JARR, and Gerardo Stübing, among others.

Metode Science Studies Journal, which can be fully consulted in open access, is included in several indexes and databases such as Scopus, Emerging Sources Citation Index, Google Scholar, ERIH Plus, and Latindex, among others.
