A team from the Universitat de València participates in the second edition of the Liga Matemática, organised by the National Association of Mathematics Students. The team, made up of students, will compete weekly against other universities from all over the country in 15 sessions from October 2024 to May 2025. In total, 30 teams from different universities distributed in 2 groups, with 15 combined each.

The delegate of the Universitat de València team is Marc Girona Pla, a 3rd year Physics and Mathematics student. The University team is made up of students from the degrees in Mathematics; Physics and Mathematics, and a student from the Master´Degree in Mathematical Research.

The League works like a sporting competition: for 90 minutes, two opposing groups play a match to solve three problems. When you have a solution to a problem, you report it to the referee, who corrects it. Every problem well solved is a goal, and the winner is the one who solves the most goals during the match. Victory awards three points in the standings, one point for a draw and zero for defeat.

The idea was suggested in early 2023 to the National Mathematics Students‘ Association, and presented at the National Mathematics Students’ Meeting 2023, with the aim of spreading mathematics and giving continuity to this area of principles.
