Aid programme to elite, high-ranking and high level athletes of the Universitat de València has received more than 200 applications again: 128 are from women and 91 form men out of 219. The objective of this call, endowed with 62 000 euros, it to develop a supporting programme to this athletes so that they can alternate sport activity and academic studies.

The objective of this call, endowed with 62 000 euros, it to develop a supporting programme to this athletes so that they can alternate sport activity and academic studies.

According to Physical Education and Sports Service de of the University (SEFUV), the resolution of the evaluation commission that will give the aids will get out by the end of November and the beginning of December.

Called by the Office of the Vice-Principal for Studies and Language Policy, this programme aim for help to “the total integration of elite, high-ranking and high level athletes of the Universitat de València in the educative university system”. Therefore, linking university centers to the program is crucial. “In each center there is a tutor who helps them to combine their elite sports career with their university academic training, "they point out from the SEFUV. Nowadays, the programme has 18 academic tutors and a coordinator. The tutors lead the modules chosen by the student and his relationship with the teaching staff, favoring a unique treatment according to the academic requirements and the professional possibilities of these athletes.

Last year, 108 men and 110 women participated in the programme, of which three of them participated in Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, 17 were high level, 54 were called by the corresponding national team, 90 obtained results in the university championships of Spain, 46 participated in international university championships and 114 were proclaimed elite athletes of the Valencian Community.

Office of the Vice-Principal for Studies and Language Policy of the Universitat de València has called the first edition of the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation (FTA) awards for university athletes in accordance with the collaboration agreement between the seven Valencian universities of the Regional University Sports Championship (CADU) and the FTA for the promotion of university sports.

Deadline of this call was in October 11 and 18 applications forms have been submitted. 10 from women and 8 from men. At this time, the call is in the review phase of the documentation prior to the meeting of the evaluation commission.

The Trinidad Alfonso awards are aimed to university athletes of the Universitat de València and are endowed with 1 200 euros: two prizes of 600 euros each will be awarded to the best athletes of the University –in male and female categories– that have combined with the best results the academic excellence and the elite and high level sports practice.
