Ana Botella will continue to head the Faculty of Teacher Training

Ana Botella, professor of the Department of Teaching of Musical, Visual and Corporal Expression, is re-elected as dean of the Faculty of Teacher Training at the Universitat de València. The Board of the Faculty of Teacher Training has re-elected Botella Nicolás with 23 votes in favour and 4 blank votes.
The Dean's team is completed by María Alcantud (vice-dean for International Collaboration and Cooperation), Amparo Hurtado (vice-dean for Educational Transformation, Innovation and Equality), Rosa Isusi (Postgraduate Studies, Research and Quality), Amelia Mañá (vice-dean for Undergraduate Studies), Carmen Melchor (vice-dean for Internships), Miquel Oltra (vice-dean for Culture, Participation and Communication), Jordi Solbes (vice-dean for Teaching Staff and Infrastructure), and Rafael Fernández (Secretary).
Ana Botella is a member of the Musical Expression Didactics department. Graduated in Musicology and with a diploma in Teaching specialising in Music Education from the University of Oviedo, she holds a PhD in Pedagogy from the Universitat de València, with a thesis that analysed and catalogued the music of the Moors and Christians of Alcoy, and carried out a didactic application in the secondary school classroom.
The dean holds a professional degree in piano music and an international master’s degree in the same specialisation from the Higher Music School of Oviedo.
Author of around a hundred scientific articles in her area of knowledge, teaching of musical expression, her research focuses on the creation of audiovisual resources for working on musical listening, interdisciplinary nature, and educational innovation and the renewal of teaching methodologies.
She is the principal researcher of the research group iMUSED (Investigating Music Education), whose goal is to deepen the knowledge of musical education from multiple perspectives such as educational innovation, interdisciplinary nature, the study of the curriculum, musical identities, and the transfer of knowledge. Currently, she leads the CIACO2022 project “The soundscape as a context for interdisciplinary learning in teacher training” (El paisaje sonoro como contexto de aprendizaje interdisciplinar en la formación de maestros y maestras).
A relentless activist in lifelong-learning courses, she has been involved in the Unisocietat, Unimajors, and Nau Gran programmes since 2009, teaching lessons in music listening, opera, and numerous conferences, and coordinating seasonal universities in Buñol and Gandía in all their editions to date.
She has been secretary of the Department (2012-2015), director of the Music Classroom of the Office of the Vice-Principal for Culture and Equality (2015-2018), director of the Master's Degree in Research in Specific Didactics of the Faculty of Teacher Training (2016-2018, 2019-2020), and vice-dean for Academic Organisation and Postgraduate Degrees (2018-2020). She has also been a representative of the Universitat de València in Florida University Studies (Florida Universitaria) (2012-2020).
