The architect Antonio Escario, who restored La Nau and the Office of the Principal, and designed the Faculty of Pharmacy, passes away

The architect Antonio Escario, who restored emblematic buildings of the Universitat de València, as La Nau and the Office of the Principal, and designed the new Faculty of Pharmacy and its different lecture rooms, has passed away in Valencia at the age of 83. The Official Architects Association of the Valencian Community had granted him the title of “Mestre valencià d’Arquitectura for his professional career.
Antonio Escario received the title of Architect in the College of Madrid in 1963 and the doctorate in 1967. In 2006, he was named a Professor at the Real Academia of Fine Arts of San Carlos de Valencia. He held several positions in the state and regional administration and was for years chief architect at the Technical Unit of the Universitat de València.
For his projects, he received important awards throughout his professional career, among them the National Architecture Prize in 1993, precisely for his project of the new Faculty of Pharmacy of the Universitat de València, located in the Burjassot/Paterna Campus.
The Official Architects Association, after naming him “Mestre valencià d’Arquitectura”, highlighted “his contribution to architecture, to the training of architects through teaching and his committed defence of architecture”.
