Award to the Best Presentation and First Award in Bachillerato, in the national statistics contest ‘Avatar’

The Valencian team that has participated in Logroño.
The student Yasmin Saidi, from the IES Joan Fuster of Sueca and the student Pau Ferrando, of the IES La Plana de Castelló de la Plana, have won the Award to the Best Presentation and First Award in the Bachillerato category, respectively, in the national phase of the statistics contest ‘Avatar’: Descubriendo la Estadística en el País de los Datos’. Saidi and Ferrando were part of the winning teams of the third edition of the contest ‘Va de Dades! Concurso Valenicano de Estadística para la Ciencia de Datos’, celebrated in the Universitat de València. The winning teams have participated in the national competition, celebrated in Logroño, in representation of the Valencian Community.
The winning teams of the third edition of the contest ‘Va De Dades! Concurso Valenciano de Estadística para la Ciencia de Datos’, organised by the Universitat de València, the Universitat Politècnica de València and the Universitat Miguel Hernández of Elche, have represented the Valencian Community in the national phase of the contest, ‘AVATAR: Descubriendo la Estadística en el País de los Datos’, that organises the Sociedad de Estadística, Investigación Operativa y Ciencia de Datos (SEIO). In this edition, celebrated in the Universidad de La Rioja, Logroño, during the days 25, 26 and 27 June, the representatives of the Valencian Community have achieved once again to get the podium.
Yasmin Saidi, student of the IES Joan Fuster of Sueca (Valencia) has won the BEST CERTAMEN PRESENTATION AWARD, with her work titled ‘Los efectos de la DANA en la concienciación juvenil. ¿Y tú qué harías?’, supervised by Mónica Carbó Colechà and Òscar Mascarell Claver. The student participated in the A Category of the contest (1-2 de ESO).
The work titled ‘Motxilles: Un problema de pes’, done by Pau Ferrando Agost and supervised by José Francisco Chiva Moreno, from the IES La Plana, in Castelló de la Plana, has won the FIRST AWARD in the C Category (Bachillerato y CFGM). The award has been shared with the work ‘El lado oscuro de la miel’ that participated representing the Autonomic Community of Galicia.
José García Martínez, Victoria Martínez Ortega and Alejandro Picó Rodríguez, from the Colegio Salesianos San José Artesano, in Elche (Alicante), have represented the Valencian Community in the B Category (3-4ESO+FPB) of the contets, with the work titled ‘Estudio descriptivo sobre la depresión’, supervised by Pablo López Francés.
The participation in the national phase has been possible thanks to the sponsor contract between the Institut Valencià d’Estadística (IVE-GVA) and the Universitat de València, which has allowed to finance the trip and the accommodation of the three participating teams.
