The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry of the Universitat de València hosted a new edition of the Biomedical Research Congress (CIB2025). This activity was organised by the students of the institution from the 12 to the 14 February, and it included lectures, panel discussions and debates, among others. These events took place in the Aula Magna. They aimed to promote critical thinking among students and the research and professional personnel in this field of study, the exchange of ideas, and the contact with top professionals. This meeting reached its 12th edition, consolidating itself as a referent in scientific dissemination and the education of students and researchers in biomedicine.
The Congress was designed from the beginning with a multidisciplinary approach. Therefore, it was targeted towards the students of medicine, nursery, biochemistry, biotechnology, or computer science who were interested in scientific research, and it provided them access to the professional field for the first time. These areas of expertise converged in this congress to address the most recent challenges and technological innovations in the field of health and biomedical research.
A diverse program with prestigious speakers
The CIB 2025 included conferences, panel discussions, workshops, and debates about current topics in the scientific and technology fields. Rita Pilar Cervera-Juanes was in charge of the inaugural conference, followed by panel discussions such as ‘Innovació en tècniques i enfocaments terapèutics’ (‘Innovation in techniques and therapeutic approaches’) and ‘Malaties estranyes però no oblidades’ (‘Rare, but not forgotten, diseases’). Moreover, a debate was held about ‘The scope of artificial intelligence in biomedicine’ (‘L’abast de la intel·ligència artificial en la biomedicina’), addressing one of the most disruptive topics in the field of health. Antonio Bernad Miana held the closing conference.
Opportunities for the students
One of the main principles of the congress was its accessibility and practical approach, allowing attendants to be actively involved in the exposition of posters and research projects. Moreover, the Fòrum d'Empreses i Eixides Professionals (‘the Forum of Business and Career Prospects’), addressed particularly to students, provided contact with companies of the industry and key tools for job placement.
The CIB also offered training workshops and contests to promote the development of new abilities and the exchange of ideas among young researchers.
With every edition, the Biomedical Research Congress reassured its commitment to scientific dissemination and the education of future professionals. They provided a space for learning, debating and connecting, in which science and innovation were
