‘Puja per les escales’ (Take the stairs) is the campaign that the UV has launched so that the university community contribute to save energy while burning calories. International award to Engineering students. A study shows how the sounds of the different bells are. An exhibition in Ontinyent shows the festivities of the Valencian towns. The energy consumption of the lifts represents between two and five percent of the total electricity used annually in the Universitat de València. It may seem an insignificant amount but within a general bill of six million euro every percentage represents an important cost. Choosing the stairs rather than the comfortability of lifts has health benefits. The campaign ‘Puja les escales’ has been implemented to raise awareness about this topic.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is included within the i-e-club professional association. It is the greatest non-profit international association of scientists, experts and students of all the branches of technology such as Electric, Telecommunications, Electronic, Informatics, Telematics and Computing Engineering. This association has rewarded a team of Engineering students of the Universitat de València.

During centuries, the sound of bells has served not only to mark the hours but also to announce weddings, funerals or to warn the citizens. In addition to this, the sound of each bell tower is different and only with its sound it is possible to identify if the bells that ring are from one town or another. A study presented at the UV shows how the sounds of the different bells are.

The exhibition ‘Festes tradicionals del territori valencià’ (Traditional festivities of the Valencian territory) shows the regional singularities of the festive heritage of the Valencian community through thirty four posters. The exhibition will be at Casa de la Cultura in Ontinyent until 29 September but it will be also displayed in other Valencian towns.
