La Nau Cultural Centre will take on Tuesday 29 October, at 7pm, ‘Hablamos de Mafalda’, a homage to Quino’s creation for the 60 anniversary of his most iconic character. This activity, that is organised by the Comic Society from the Universitat de València, will count with the participation of Raquel Gu, Raúl Salazar and Noelia Ibarra. The entrance to this colloquium, that will be hosted in the Sapiència Chapel, is free until seating capacity is completed.

The first comic strip of Mafalda was published on 29 September, 1964 in the weekly magazine ‘Primera Plana’, and six months later began to be published a comic strip daily in the journal ‘El Mundo’. With this, Mafalda ended up turning into a worldwide well-known character, with more than 2.000 comic strips and translated to more than 20 languages. It was catalogued by the jury of the Prince of Asturias Prize in 2014, “of intelligent, ironic, non-comformist, rebellious and sensitive, that dreams with a more fair and worthier world, respectful with human rights”, year that Quino was awarded with this prize.

It is not the first time that the UV gives this year homage at La Nau to this iconic character from the comic. On September, with reason for the Comic Workshop in Valencia, the building took a little sample during that weekend.

In the colloquium, the graphic humourist Raquel Gu, who works for magazines such as El Jueves, Principia or Pikara, will talk with the graphic humourist Raúl Salazar, also collaborator with the satirical magazine El Jueves, among other media, in a table moderated by Noelia Ibarra, professor at the Universitat de València, member of the UV Comic Society and responsible for the Culture on Campus in Tarongers.
