Conference session on Health Promotion from the perspective of Social Education at the Universitat de València.

The conference was an opportunity to reflect on the importance of an holistic view of health and to share knowledge and experiences that contribute to the promotion of well-being in all areas of life.

On last Wednesday 2 October, the Facultat de Filosofia i Ciències de l´Educació of la Universitat de València was the venue for a conference dedicated to the promotion of health through social education, organised in collaboration with the Official College of Social Educators of the Valencian Community (COEESCV). This event coincided with the celebration of the International Day of Social Education, underlining the importance of this profession in today's society.

Under the slogan ‘Health promotion from Social Education’, the conference addressed various crucial issues such as health and community intervention, social education and sport, mental health, and Preschool and youth health. The programme included a series of workshops and lectures given by leading professionals in these fields, offering an holistic view of health that encompasses physical, social, emotional and cultural aspects.

The inauguration of the event was attended by M. Vicenta Mestre, Principal of the Universitat de València; Elena Cantarino, dean of the faculty; Ignacio Grande, regional secretary of Family and Social Services; M. José Navarro, president of COEESCV; and Manuel Escolano, head of OCISS GVA. They all highlighted the importance of social education in promoting community health and wellbeing.

During the conference, several successful socio-educational experiences were presented in areas such as childhood and adolescence, the community, sport, mental health, the elderly, gender-based violence, hospitals, the education system and social services. These initiatives demonstrated the positive impact of social education on improving people's health and well-being, especially for the most vulnerable groups.

This event not only celebrated Social Education Day, but also highlighted the fundamental role of social educators in building a healthier and more equitable society. The conference was an opportunity to reflect on the importance of a holistic view of health and to share knowledge and experiences that contribute to the promotion of wellbeing in all areas of life.
