The Conselleria of Education, Culture and Sport has recognised the scientific and medical collection of the López Piñero Inter-University Institute of the Universitat de València. The Universitat de València's Scientific and Medical Collection is guarded in the History of Medicine and Science Museum, located in Plaza Cisneros in Valencia.
The building integrates a combination of essential facilities for training and research development: the central headquarters of the History of Medicine and Science Museum, the permanent exhibition “Science and Society” in the Palau Cerveró, the main storage and work space and the Scientific-Medical Collection of the Universitat de València, a conference room, a workshop room and the historic-medical library 'Vicent Peset Llorca' which houses both critical research literature and primary archival and printed sources associated with the Museum.
It is a collection of 5,000 items made up of documents and objects related to research specialising in the history of science, technology and medicine. Part of these pieces are displayed in the permanent exhibition “Science and Society”, which includes scientific and medical instruments, visual records of measures produced by them, bibliographic material and audiovisual documents. The visit to the exhibition begins with the solar camera of the Astronomical Observatory of the University of Valencia (1935) and concludes with an X-ray diffraction equipment used in the Faculty of Chemistry (1956-1957).
