The nursing students of the University of Valencia participated yesterday in a talk with Miguel Mínguez, councillor of Universal Healthcare and Pubic Health, with who they have been able to learn the policies and strategies of the Valencian government in the field of family medicine, aimed to strengthen the primary health care.

The talk highlighted the importance of this specialty and the need to allocate more resources. The students have also been able to learn about the current situation of primary health care, its differences and singularities regarding other areas, its future perspectives, and the established lines that will guide this specialty for the next few years.

The event has been moderated by the rector of the University of Valencia, Mavi Mestre; and counted on the participation of the dean of the Faculty of Nursing and Podiatry, Antoni Merelles; the professor of Public Health and Community Nursing, Ana María Sánchez; the professor and representative of Primary Health Care in the University and medical director of the Hospital Clínic Universitario of Valencia, Jorge Navarro; and the commissioned of Primary and Community Attention of the Valencian Health System, María José Lloria.
