He has a degree in Law by the University of Zaragoza, he wrote books such as ‘Tebeo y cultura de masas’ (1966) and launched the first magazine of comics of Spain, ‘Cuto’ (1967).

He took part in the Centre d’Etude des Littératures d`Expression Graphique and he was one of the founders of Salone Internazionale dei Comics de Bordighera (Italia) in 1965, with Alain Resnais, Umberto Eco, Romano Calisi, Francis Lacassin, Jacques Lob and Rino Albertarelli, which was the seed of the future Lucca convention. He became the General Undersecretary of the International Association of Comic’s Critics and the International Federation of Research Centre of Comics.

During the 70’s, he collaborated with the ‘Bang!’ magazine and he directed the Buru Lan and Pala publishing houses. So he became in the responsible of the re-edition of classics of US comics and of magazines such as ‘Drácula’. He signed as Sadko, he wrote for this magazine two series, Agar-Agar, with Alberto Solsona and Wolff’s drawings, with drawing of Esteban Maroto. At the same time, he directed the International Festival of Cinema of San Sebastián.

In 1983, he presented ‘El erotismo en el cine’, an encyclopedia about erotic cinema.

 He was the curator of more than 50 exhibitions about cinema, comic and image’s culture, highlighting the exhibitions dedicated to Mickey Mouse in Angoulême (1979), Tokio (1981), Roma (1993) and Madrid (1994).

With Román Gubern he published the monographs ‘El discurso del cómic’ (1988, re-edited and extended in 2011), ‘Diccionario de onomatopeyas del cómic’ (2008), ‘Enciclopedia erótica del cómic’ (2012) and ‘El universo fantástico del cómic’ (2015). He has also collaborated with the historian Asier Mensuro in the monograph ‘La pintura en el cómic’ (2014).

In 2004 started the touch between the critic with the Diputación Foral de Guipúzcoa (Guipúzcoa’s Government), which seven years later leaded up to the opening of Komikiak-Colección Gasca Bilduma in the Koldo Mitxelena Library.
