The University of Valencia and the City Council of Algemesí present the traveling exhibition 'Women and resistance. València, 1931-1939', co-organized by both institutions. The exhibition was inaugurated in the modernist building of the Casino Liberal of Algemesí last Thursday, May 4, with the presence of Pere Blanco, councilor of culture of Algemesí, and María Dolores Pitarch, delegate of the rector for the Universitat Societat program, along with the curators of the exhibition Carlos López Olano, professor of Audiovisual Communication at the Universitat de València, and Luis Vidal, photographer and grandson of Luis Vidal Corella, author of the photographs.

'Women and Resistance' offers a unique vision of the republican Valencia through the archive of images of the photojournalist Luis Vidal Corella (1900-1959). The exhibition, produced by the Universitat de Valencia through the UVsociety, and the Valencia Provincial Council, shows the daily life of that time, focusing especially on the role and social advances of women in the Republic.

With this exhibition, the University of Valencia and the City Council of Algemesí seek to raise awareness of a fundamental historical chapter in which the struggle for equality and women's rights in our society became effective. Likewise, 'Women and Resistance' is a new opportunity to strengthen the collaboration between the two institutions, who throughout this course have worked together on various exhibition projects such as "The Art of Resistance #Ukraine" and "Feminist Artivism", currently on display in the Bigues room of the La Nau Cultural Center of the University of Valencia.
