The Faculty of Philosophy and Educational Sciences of the Universitat de València celebrated the 1st Session of Tutoria i Acompanyament en les Pràctiques Externes, a meeting that gathered academic tutors, professionals from the internship centres, teachers and other people interested in students’ training.

The meeting was created in order to put into value the tutors’ work, to create a metting space among the different agents who are involved in external internships, and to share experiences that contribute to improve the quality of practical training. 

The act has been inaugurated by Rosa Bo Bonet –vice-rector for Educational Transformation, Permanent Training and Professional Projection–, Carmen Carmona Rodríguez –vice-dean for Research, Mobility and Internships from the faculty of Philosophy and Educational Sciences–, and Yolanda Montoro Sánchez, the person in charge of the UVinternship/UVjob area.

During her intervention, Carmen Carmona highlighted the importance of creating exchange spaces with the involved people in external internships. She also emphasised that the faculty manages more than 700 internships every year. In addition, she underlined the necessity of keep reflecting upon how to build more inclusive and accessible environments for students, especially in a context in which education faces important challenges.

For her part, Rosa Bo discussed the value of supporting students during the external internships, indicating that the daily accelerated rhythm can difficult the students’ track. In this sense, she has encouraged to strengthen communication and closeness among tutors to guarantee a quality training experience. 

The opening conference, under the title “Construir entorns inclusius: reptes i oportunitats per a acompanyar la diversitat des de la pràctica professional”, has been carried out by Coral Elizondo, teacher, counsellor, and a referent for inclusive education.

During her intervention, Elizondo reflected upon the importance of designing educational and professional contexts that benefit the participation of everyone. “Inclusion should not be improvised, it should be designed”, indicated, by underlining the necessity of removing barriers understanding the inclusion as a matter of pertinence and shared opportunities. 

The lecturer also emphasised the role of supporting in learning and personal transformation processes, particularly during the external internships, an era characterised by uncertainty and acquisition of new professional skills.

The session ended with a dialogue space and an experience exchange conducted by Carmen Carmona and Amelia Granda, coordinators of external internships of the Faculty. Participants shared reflections, encouragement, and proposals to improve inclusion, tutoring, and students’ support.
