FIL 2025 renews its solidarity with València

The International Book Fair in Guadalajara (Mexico) 2025 edition took off, strengthening its place as the great gathering point for the editorial and Ibero-American culture industries, with Barcelona as a guest city and a Universitat de València stand. During the opening, the Principal of the University of Guadalajara announced the cession of the earning of one day to the literary industry of València affected by the DANA in 2024.
The International Book Fair in Guadalajara (FIL) is an initiative of University of Guadalajara (Mexico) that becomes a gathering point for the Ibero-American editorial sector surrounded by a broad cultural programme. As the Principal of the University of Guadalajara stated ‘FIL is an open door to plurality [...] and a place for rational dialogue practicing the highest civic and human values’.
One of its singularities is that the public pays for and entry to the great editorial fair with large presence of Ibero-American universities.
Among these, there are university editorials. For these last years, UV has been present thanks to the University Editorials Union of Spain (UNE) and, this year, it had its own stand.
During the last edition, former University of Guadalajara Principal and current Sub-Secretary of Higher Education in Mexico Ricardo Villanueva announced the cession of the earnings of one day to the Valencian editorial sector affected by the 29 October 2024 flooding.

In the opening ceremony of this year’s edition, University of Guadalajara Principal Karla Planter renewed the solidarity with València and the literary industry affected by 2024 DANA.
The Principal of UdG announce that a day’s worth of tickets for FIL will be donated to support victims of floodings and landslides that took place in different Mexican states and caused great damage in infrastructure and over 70 casualties.
Universitat de València Principal María Vicenta Mestre thanked once again University of Guadalajara’s solidarity with the Valencian literary sector.
UV and UdG keep a deep bond of scientific and academic collaboration as well as an audiovisual relation through the Ibero-American Educational and Cultural Television Association (ATEI).
