‘La Caixa’ Foundation awarded postgraduate scholarships abroad to four graduate students from the Universitat de València in a ceremony presided by His Majesty King Felipe VI and attended by Principal Maria Vicenta Mestre. The event recognised the academic excellence and potential of the young graduates to continue their studies abroad.

The four graduate students of the Universitat de València who received the scholarships are:

  • Ana Blas Medina, who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences, will study for a Master’s Degree in Life Sciences at the Université de Recherche Paris Sciences et Lettres PSL in France.
  • Alejandro Cardona Monzonis, who also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences, will pursue a Doctorate in Cancer, Stem Cells and Developmental Biology at the Utrecht University in the Netherlands.
  • Diana Esteve Alguacil, who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, will study for a Master’s Degree in Multi-disciplinary Gender Studies at the University of Cambridge in the UK.
  • Pablo Rodenas Ruiz, who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics, will study for a Master’s Degree in Quantum Science and Engineering at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland.

These students demonstrated an exceptional academic performance and were selected from a large number of candidates nationwide. The scholarships of the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation enable students to pursue postgraduate studies in some of the most prestigious educational institutions, providing access to resources and opportunities to boost their careers and contribute to scientific and social progress.

‘La Caixa’ Foundation has provided 100 postgraduate scholarships this year, in a highly competitive process that rewards talent and dedication. This financial and academic support is crucial for the students, as it allows them to develop their skills and knowledge in a global environment, preparing future leaders in different fields of knowledge.

In order to receive these scholarships, the students’ applications had to pass the first phase of evaluation though the peer review system. Those with the highest marks were called for a personal interview. After passing both stages of the selection process, the graduates were accepted into the programme, which covers the enrolment fee for their postgraduate studies abroad, as well as travel expenses and orientation days prior to their arrival at their destination.

This recognition not only represents a personal achievement for the students, but also reflects the quality of education and research at the Universitat de València, establishing it as a leading institution in the training of highly qualified professionals.
