Full-time professor Silvia Barona reelected president of Alexander von Humboldt Association Spain

Universitat de València full-time professor in Procedural Law was reelected president of the Alexander von Humboldt Association Spain, formed of over 200 researcher members of every field, from science to art and music, who have been to germany with scholarships and grants of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.

Alexander von Humboldt Association Spain celebrated its 32nd meeting at Jaume I University in Castelló when professor Barona Vilar was reelected president. A new prsident is elected every four years. Silvia Barona was first elected in 2021 and that trust led to a second victory on 5 September for her to represent the association for four more years.

The association is formed of over 200 researchers from every field of knowledge, from science to art and music, who studied in Germany thanks to the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Scholarship. The last researchers to join have also won the 'Humboldt Award'. The group becomes an interesting collective that gathers every year at a Spanish university along with the Humboldt Foundation, the German Embassy and other academic authorities to debate and discuss current matters. The topic of this year in Castellón was "Social. Environmental, Economic and Cultural Sustainability'.

Universitat de València full-time professor of Procedural Law, permanent board member of the Spanish National Codification Commission and member of several commisions assisting the Ministry: Interinstitutional Commision for the principles of the Judicial Structure System and Demarcation Law 2009-2010, Institutional Commission for the LECRIM reform 2021-2022, president of the València Chamber Arbitration and Mediation Court, and Vice-Principal (2010-2014) and president of the Universitat de València General Foundation.

She received the Great Cross of Raymond of Peñafort and became Doctor Honoris Causa in 5 universities (Bolivia, Switzerland, Chile and twice in Peru), and became the first Spanish speaker to join the AKADEMIANET Network (www.academia-net.de), a network of influential female scientists organised by the Robert Bosch Stiftung Foundation and first proposed by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in 2016.

She studied in Germany and received scholarships like DAAD, Max-Planck i Humboldt), and was in research stays at prestigious universities like Harvard, Edimburg and Cambridge. She holds a network of researcher in Ibero-America, Asia and Europe with over 400 conferences. Author to over 600 publications, including 22 books as sole author, 30 books as editor, with over 100 articles in national and international papers and hundred of book chapters. Her research revolves around Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), 'Keys to Civil and Criminal Justice', 'History of Criminal Procedure', 'Algorythmation of Justice. From Artificial Intelligence to Smart Justice' and 'Multifaceted Justice in Transition Periods'. Barona is concernes about the challenges and transformation in the field of justice, such as feminisation of justive, irruption of AI and alrythms globally, sustainability and 'Vulnerability and Vulnerable Ones in Justice'. She parttook in 18 research projects and directed 22 doctoral theses.
