Full-time university professor José María Martín Moreno receives the ECO Foundation Extraordinary Award for the Contribution to Public Health Care and Cancer Prevention

Universitat de València full-time university professor José María Martín Moreno has been recognised with the ECO Foundation Extraordinary Award for the Contribution to Public Health Care and Cancer Prevention thanks to his international career, research, teaching and leadership in the area.
Universitat de València full-time university professor in Preventive Medicine and Public Health Care José María Martín Moreno received the Extraordinary Award for the Contribution to Public Health Care and Cancer Prevention from the ECO Foundation (Excellence and Quality in Oncology). The award ceremony took place on 29 September at the National Royal Academy of Medicine of Madrid, with an outstanding presence of Universitat de València.
Professor Martín Moreno is an international reference in preventive medicine and public health care, with a career that combines research, teaching and institutional leadership. Doctor in Medicine by the University of Granada with a Master’s Degree and a Doctorate om Public Health Care by Harvard University. He directed key institutions such as the Regional Office of WHO for Europe, Spanish Government Public Health Care General Direction and Spanish Agency of Health Technology Evaluation.
His research focuses on primary and secondary prevention of cancer and health policies evaluation with over 450 scientific publications in national and international papers with broad participation in European and state projects.
He has won a great deal of awards like Andrija Stampar Award of Merit for Public Health Care in Europe and Harvard Alumni Award of Merit. He is also a collaborator with Spanish Association Against Cancer, International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) and European Academy of Cancer Sciences among others.
This new award by the ECO Foundation highlights his prominent contribution to promoting public health care and cancer prevention and Universitat de València commitment with research and innovation in health care.
