ICMol researcher José J. Baldoví, winner of the Nou d'Octubre de Xàtiva Award

José Jaime Baldoví, researcher at the Institute of Molecular Science (ICMol) of la Universitat de València is one of the four people awarded by the Xàtiva City Council on the occasion of the Nou d'Octubre. The award is given to individuals and organisations that have demonstrated a significant commitment to the benefit of society through their professional work. The award recognises their outstanding contributions in the fields of science and research.
José J. Baldoví, born in Xàtiva in 1986, is a Distinguished Researcher of Excellence of the gene-T Plan of the Generalitat Valenciana and director of the 2D Smart Materials Lab at the Institute of Molecular Science (ICMol) of La Universitat de València. His research is focused on the theoretical and computational design of intelligent molecular devices, integrating physics, chemistry and materials science in order to explore applications in emerging fields like magnonics, spintronics and quantum computer. This same year he has been elected president of the Association of Scientists of Excellence of the Gene-T Plan (AccenT) and a full member of the Spanish Young Academy, as well as being one of the two Spanish representatives on the management committee of the COST SuperQumap Action. His labour transcends the field of research, dedicating himself too to the scientific dissemination and counselling in order to bring science closer to society
Baldoví graduated in Chemistry in 2009 and obtained a Master’s Degree (2012) and a Doctoral programme in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (2016) in La Universitat de València, with an excellence award in each stage of his career. His doctoral thesis was recognised as the best in his cathegory. In 2017 he obtained a prestigious support Marie Curie-Sklodowska to unite to the Institute Max Planck for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter in Hamburg, Germany and subsequently returned to the Valencian Community through the Gene-T Plan of the Valencian Department of Universities of innovation and science of the Valencian Council. He currently supervises a multidisciplinary team of 8 researchers and has published more than 70 scientific articles, as well as participating as a lecturer in numerous international conferences.
The mayor of Xàtiva has praised Baldoví's commitment and his impact in the field of nanoscience, congratulating him for his dedication and continued academic achievements. On his side, Baldoví has said: ‘I am very proud and grateful for this recognition of the work we do every day, and for all the expressions of affection and affection from the citizens of Xàtiva throughout my scientific and academic career’.
The award will be given at a ceremony that will be held as part of the Valencian Community Day celebrations at the Puerta de la Aljama in Xàtiva.
