- April 29th, 2020

This Thursday 30 April begins the dissemination talks on Physics that, aimed at secondary school students and especially high school, the Institute of Corpuscular Physics (IFIC) of the Universitat de València has scheduled on its YouTube channel. It also begins the cycle of online dissemination conferences 'Physics for confinement', aimed at bringing physics closer to the general public.
The outreach committee of the Institute of Corpuscular Physics (IFIC, Universitat de València-CSIC) is organising a series of dissemination talks aimed at students from secondary schools (IES) in the Valencian Community. The initiative aims at complementing the contents of the Physics course by explaining some fundamental topics such as the Theory of Relativity, Quantum Physics or Nuclear Physics and its applications. These talks will be held live on the IFIC's YouTube channel, and begin on Thursday 30 April at 16:00.
The programme consists of three open talks, one for each of the 'big topics' in physics:
Relativity, by Alberto Aparici: Thursday 30 April, 16:00 - 18:00
Quantum theory, by Olga Mena: Wednesday 6 May, 16:00 - 18:00
Nuclear physics, Enrique Nácher: Wednesday 13 May, 16:00 - 18:00
The talks will be available shortly before the start of each session and will remain recorded on the channel, available to the public. The estimated duration of each talk is 1 hour, after which there will be a question period on the chat of the YouTube channel and the IFIC's Twitter account (@IFICorpuscular).

Physics for confinement
On the other hand, also this Thursday 30 April, from 16:45, the cycle 'Physics for confinement' begins with the conference 'The first second of the Universe', given by Daniel G. Figueroa, expert in particle physics and cosmology of the early universe and member of the international LISA collaboration for the detection of gravitational waves in space.
This is the first of the talks that the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències, the IFIC and the Department of Theoretical Physics of the Universitat de València have organised to bring physics closer to the general public in an enjoyable and informative way.
In his talk, which can be followed live, Daniel Figueroa will explain how cosmology is able to describe the evolution of the Universe from its first second of life to the present moment, the evidence that supports this theory and which are the uncertainties and unknown aspects about the origin of the Universe.
