The Principal and the Board of Trustees of the University have agreed to name a new manager. This has happened in a context in which a series of changes regarding university policies have been conducted, since the new governing team took office in April.

The article 33 of the Organic Law of Universities (LOU) establishes that the management of the University is in charge of the administrative and economic services of the institution. The naming and revocation of the manager is regulated by the article 4.j of the Law 2/2003 of the Valencian Government, which standardises the Board of Trustees of the Valencian State Universities.

The Board of Trustees and the Principal of the Universitat de València agreed yesterday to name a new manager. He took office earlier today.

He highlighted to the Board of Trustees and the Principal of the Universitat the important task developed by the former manager, Joan Oltra Vidal, who had been in charge for two decades. During this period of time, new study plans, new teaching and research infrastructures and important legislative changes have been created. In addition, a large number of administrative procedures of public resources have been commissioned.

The Principal expressed the institutional gratitude to Mr. Oltra because of the work and services that he has provided to the Universitat de València for 20 years. Particularly, the last years have been especially difficult because of the financing and fiscal crisis.

The new manager, Juan Vicente Climent Espí, is a professional public servant that has worked at the Higher Technical Section of the General Administration of the Valencian Government for more than 30 years. He has been executive manager in several positions such as the Head of the Cabinet of the Regional Minister of Culture or the General Secretary of the Valencian Department for Environment. He has had a long executive career in the area of universities and research. He had been Head of Management, Foresight and Services of the Valencian Agency for Assessment and Foresight (AVAP).
