The University Community can activate Google Workspace with integrated Artificial Intelligence

People at the Universitat de València can now activate institutional Google Workspace, a digital environment with integrated Artificial Intelligence (AI) that brings together, like a large online backpack, the necessary tools to study, work and collaborate: storing files, writing documents, creating presentations, organising the calendar and sharing projects. In addition, the University provide training in the use of this tool for staff and students.
The activation is not automatic. Instead, you need to complete it individually through the UV user portal at https://comptes.uv.es, where users will need to read and accept the terms and conditions of the service.
The Universitat de València has subscribed to the Education Fundamentals edition of the Google Workspace for Education for all the university community, as a further step in its Strategic Plan for the implementation of Artificial Intelligence. This environment, composed by a group of tools on the Google cloud, is available from any device and provides a secure and flexible space for university activities.
Therefore, all staff and students will have access to Gemini, the Artificial Intelligence assistant integrated into the programme’s apps. It can be useful for tasks such as writing essays, summarising, translating or generating ideas, always bearing in mind an important principle: AI assists users, but the final decision and the responsibility for reviewing the results remain with the user.
Google Workspace for Education brings together in a single environment tools such as Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides and Calendar, along with security, administration and collaboration functions specifically designed for the educational and university environment.
The objective of the UV with this new edition is to facilitate teaching, learning, research and administrative management through the use of Artificial Intelligence in a safer and efficient way. This activation gives continuity to the guidelines that the Universitat recently published to promote an appropriate and responsible use of AI in the university area.
Training to make the most of all the possibilities
To help the university community make the most of the new tools, the UV scheduled training sessions during October meant for students (day 28), teacher and research staff (day 20), and technical, management, administrative and service staff (day 22).
The sessions will be held in webinar format and the information about the registration and access to the training is available at this link.
