- January 24th, 2017

Research teams of the University of Valencia Mediaflows and GIPEyOP have conducted a survey on the last fortnight of 2016 an online survey aimed to define the public perception ─influence, credibility and ideological decantation─ of Spanish people on the main communication media, either in printed, audio visual or digital format; as well as other particularly relevant communicators.
The survey conducted by the research teams GIPEyOP (Research Group on Electoral Processes and Public Opinion) and Mediaflows state that El Confidencial (5,3) and Onda Cero (5), at Spanish level; and Valencia Plaza (5,3) and Levante-EMV (5,1), in the Valencian Community; are the means that count with greater credibility among the 5414 candidates in a poll set between the last 14 December and 4 January. Antena 3 (4,6) among TV channels and El Mundo (4,6) among traditional press; lead the first positions in the ranking, which among the native digital media lead eldiario.es (4,8) and Infolibre (4,8).
The journalist Iñaki Gabilondo is not only the communicator considered as most politically influencer but also as the one who rekindles greater credibility, according to the aggregate of the three first individual weighted answers of the survey. He is followed in terms of politic influence the host of Salvados, Jordi Évole, and the one of Herrera in Cope, Carlos Herrera. This last one is also the second achieving greater credibility, followed by the host of Más de Uno (Onda Cero), Carlos Alsina.
The GIPEyOP and Mediaflows survey reveals that La Sexta is the most used communication mean to learn about politics, followed by El Mundo and the hi-fi SER. The valuation of the politic influence places at the top the hi-fi SER, followed by El País (the fourth mean used to learn about politics) and La Sexta.
The ideological perception of means shows that Canal 13 TV (8,7) is, in a scale from 0 to 10 ─considering 0 as extreme left and 10 as extreme right─, the mean considered as the most pointed to conservative positions, followed by the newspaper La Razón (8,2), Libertad Digital (8,1) or Cadena Cope (8). On the opposite end are Público (2,3), La Sexta (2,9) or eldiario.es (3). The most cantered positions according to the participants on the survey, are Telecinco (5,2) or El Confidencial, whereas among Valencian media, the ideological perception ranges between Levante-EMV (4,1) and Las Provincias (7).
When it comes to journalists, the ideological perception places Carlos Alsina (5,2), Vicente Vallés (5,2) or Susana Griso (5,5) in the most neutral positions. The survey participants believe that the most left-positioned journalists are El Gran Wyoming (1,9), Ignacio Escolar (2,3) and Jordi Évole (2,4). Among the communicators known by their conservative positions stand, according to the survey answers, Eduardo Inda (8,1), Francisco Marhuenda (8,3) or Federico Jiménez Losantos (8,7).
5414 valid surveys were gathered. Main results of the survey can be consulted on the report, as well as the used methodology when it comes to gathering and analysis. Report: http://www.uv.es/pavia/Informe_Encuesta_Medios.pdf
