La UV harvest great success in the CADU in frontenis, cross country running and orientation

The Universitat de València has again demonstrated its great sports level in the Autonomous University Sports Championship, reaching excellent results in various disciplines.

Frontenis: double gold and two silvers for the UV


The frontenis team of the UV had a brilliant performance in the CADU held on 12 February in the Ciudad Deportiva Juan Ángel Romero de Elche, under the organization of the Miguel Hernández University. In the women’s category, the couple formed by Leire Barona and Carmen Toro raised with the golden medal, while Lucía Adrián and Empar Tortosa obtained the silver. In the men’s category, Ricardo Varea and Carlos García won gold, and Nacho Pacheco with Juan Pasto took the silver medal. Thanks to these results, the UV proclaimed itself champion in the classification for universities.

Cross country running: the UV, university champion


The Jaume I University of Castellón was in charge of organise the race of Cross country running, which took place on 13 February in an enabled circuit in the UJI campus, behind the athletics track. In the women’s category, Andrea Romero was the main protagonist ending in the first place with a time of 21 minutes and 01 seconds. Her companion Nara Elipe also had a highlighted performance, getting the fifth position with a time of 21:29. In the men’s category, Alejandro Pérez Castellote proclaimed himself champion with a time of 24 minutes and 35 seconds, while Pablo García Cámara ended in the 12th position with a time of 25:58. Thanks to these results, the UV raised with the first position in the universities classification, restating its control in the cross country running discipline.

Orientation: bronze in teams and female silver


The orientation championship, organised by the University of Alicante, took place also on 12 February in the Mountain of Santa Pola. In this competition, the UV won a creditable bronze medal in the team classification. Furthermore, the women’s team added the individual silver medal of Alicia Claramut Moraga.

With these achievements, the Universitat de València continues consolidating as one of the most highlighted universities in the autonomous sports outlook, reflecting the effort and talent of its athletes.
