Miguel Gimeno, elected member of the European Law Institute’s council

Law Professor Miguel Gimeno Ribes has been elected to the council of the European Law Institute (ELI). Voting was held on 5 September in the framework of the general assembly of 1500 members. Similar to the centenary American Law Institute, it is an association of jurists dedicated to the elaboration of model laws and other normative projects.
The council consists of 56 members with a four-year term. In this month's election, half of its members were chosen. Among the members of the council is a representation of jurists of different nationalities, legal traditions and professions, including judges and magistrates of ordinary and constitutional courts, notaries, lawyers and academics.
Miguel Gimeno Ribes is a lecturer in Mercantile Law at the Universitat de València, where he joined after his time as a senior researcher at the Max Planck Institute in Munich. He has more than forty publications in company law, contract law and stock market law, subjects of his speciality in which he brings in a comparative and European approach. He is currently the principal investigator of a project on the exercise of shareholders' rights in listed companies in the internal market.
