Under the direction of Pep Sanchis, ASSAIG, Grup de Teatre de la Universitat de València presented the play “Esquerdes” on 7th, 8th and 9th May in the Matilde Salvador Room of the Cultural Centre La Nau. It was a funny and sarcastic story that puts together the lives of 10 people that are united because of a conflict.

Thanks to Clàudia Serra’s original text and the production of Arts Escèniques of the General Foundation of the Universitat de València, “Esquerdes” evidences the difficulties of human relationships, from the personal problems of the characters to their complete dehumanisation and corruption. “It may sound paradoxical, but… Is not dehumanization what makes us human?” reflects Clàudia.

10 people live their own lives in an extremely complex day. However, they all meet in a building in Valencia and are forced to solve a conflict. They have never faced this conflict before nor ever imagined they would face it. At this point, their differences come to the surface and they start to fight one another. This instability characterises modern human beings, who are anaesthetised by an audio-visual environment full of violence.

The cast of the play is formed by Laura Pla, Anabel García, Lucía Casanova, Víctor Camarasa, Héctor Cruañes, Sara Acàmer, Anabel Gallardo, Anna Andrés, Clara Climent, Esther Querol y Juanjo Tomàs.
