From today until 11 September, the Matilde Slavador hall will host this new working period, considered an essential step in the process of creating the piece. The choreographer selected to improve and perfect the stage, light, and sound aspects of the proposal in a real exhibiting environment in this occasion is Marta García Navarro, who will develop a project called AiMiN.

AiMiN’s release is expected for 23 September in that same space, as part of the programme of the Russafa Escènica programme.

This initiative kicks off a new dynamic, which will be established from 2027, the implementation of two annual technical stays in the Matilde Salvador hall in La Nau Cultural Centre. This action responds to the goal of weaving alliances with entities of the sector to increase the opportunities of Valencian companies and artists.

In this line, the UV Performing Arts Club and the team of the Vice-Principal for Culture, Sports, and Social Link at the UV enters in a new stage aimed at making a better use of its spaces, and directing their resources towards local and emerging talent.

A project about absence

AiMiN is a research and theatrical creation project which is based on the perception of the hole as a mysterious space, inspired by the ‘Forats’ series by the artist Joan Verdú.

From this idea, the dancer and choreographer suggests a physical and theatrical exploration ‘about what is lacking, what is being filled, and what remains indecipherable around absence.’

The proposal conveys some reflections related to the interpretation of emptiness throughout history from anthropological, social, and cultural perspectives, to the dramatic language

A contemporary dramatic ritual

Marta García conceived the AiMiN theatre as a ritual able to generate little rifts in daily perception. Her research is based on a physical exploration focused on the hands, gestures, and the expressive ability of fingers as meaning creators.

Currently, the project is in a landing phase, with materials being structured. The technical stay will allow to translate the conceptual and body research into a concrete dramatic experience. The project will be focused on stage, technic, and light construction of a dramatic dispositive that dialogues with the idea of portal and dimension, through research on mechanisms linked to illusionism to create a contemporary ritual.

To carry out this process, the creator will count on the company of an artistic and technic team composed of François Moretti in light design, Román García in the soun space, Tomàs Verdú in the dramaturgy, María Poquet in the clothing, and Santi de la Fuente in the choreographic support.
