The Principal brings to the University Senate the policy of the PDI and PTGAS

In the ordinary session of the University Senate held last 26 February in the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry of the University, the actions that the UV are carrying out in the subject of policy of Teaching and Research Staff, and Technical, Management, Administration and Service Staff.

The principal Maria Vicenta Mestre, centered her intervention mainly in three fields, policy of professors, recovery post-DANA and commitment with Palestine.

Thus, about the first topic, the principal informed about the sign of the agreement with the Generalitat and Ministry of Universities of the programme “María Goyri” of the incorporation of teaching and research talent. In that way, the principal communicated “the amount of 149 vacancies of doctoral assistant professors in the course 2024-25 which we wish will be finance by the Ministry. But it has to be described that the last two courses, without additional funding, the Universitat de València created 80 posts of doctoral assistant. On the other hand, through the public offers of occupation from 2022 to 2024 we have had 462 posts destined to the stabilization and promotion of PDI, as well as 81 posts for the incorporation of research stand with the I3 certificate in the permanent categories in which they are autorised.

The principal also said that “that way, we are making possible that all the doctoral assistant professors can access the permanent vacancies; even before the end of the five year contract of doctoral assistant, if they are authorised, they can ask for their stabilization. And the civil servant work of the permanent laboural professors is guaranteed and the promotion to chair of the titular professors of the university, as well as the possibility of stabilization for a part of the accredited associate professors”.

In the same sense she informed that “since 2022, in the Technical,Management and Administration staff, the Universitat de València has created, in this last three years, a total of 171 posts, and has transformed a total of 17”. A total of 188 posts in three years that correspond, as the principal has told, “59 of them in group A1, 52 in A2, two transformation posts in group B and 75 in group C1. All this in a context of reposition tac that continues restricting the stabilization and improvement of the university staff, and that we continue asking for it to be suppress, as the government promised will be done in 2025”.

Finally, in this sphere, the principal recalled that in December 2024 the judgment of the Sala de lo Social del Tribunal Superior de Justicia de la Comunidad Valenciana (Social Division of the Tribunal Superior de Justicia de la Comunidad Valenciana) was communicated, relative to the demand put before by a group of associated professors against the Universitat de València for violation of the fundamental right to non-discrimination and equality, in relation to the retributions perceived as associated professors in comparison with the ones perceived by the full-time professors. This judgment disesteem the demand and absolve in the Universitat de València as defendant part of the pretension of the plaintiff people, being a final judgment that can only be reviewed in cassation for the unification of doctrine.
