Professor Juan Carlos Siurana, appointed president of the Spanish Bioethics Committee

Juan Carlos Siurana, professor of Moral Philosophy in the Universitat de València, has been appointed president of the Spanish Bioethics Commitee. The committee has been recently renewed, and the Minister of Health, Mónica García Gómez, has appointed Isolina Riaño, doctor of Medicine and specialist in Paediatrics and other specific areas, as vice president.
Spanish Bioethics Committee (CBE) is an advisory body on social and ethical matters related to Biomedicine and Health Sciences. In this renovation she has included specialists in Philosophy, Neuroscience, Legal Medicine and Epidemiology.
Juan Carlos Siurana, has worked as vice president of said committee during the last two years.
Juan Carlos Siurana's academic profile has always been closely linked to Ethics in general and Bioethics in particular. He coordinates the Doctoral Programme in Ethics and Democracy and research projects in applied ethics at the Universitat de València. He is director of the Bioethics Research Group at the Universitat de València, coordinator of the Ibero-American Network of Bioethics Research Groups and of international congresses on this subject. He is also a researcher at the ÉTNOR Foundation (For the Ethics of Business and Organisations).
He is currently president of the Ethics Committee of the Social Services of the Valencian Community. He has spent time at the University of Frankfurt, the Hasting Center in New York, and Georgetown University in Washington DC, among other international centres. Moreover, he is also the author of several books.
