Miguel de la Guardia, lecturer at the Universitat de València, is the new editor-in-chief of the Microchemical Journal Elsevier. This journal is specialised in Analytical Chemistry and chemical analysis.

Microchemical Journal publishes avant-garde articles about modern analytical chemistry and other innovative techniques.

Professor Miguel de la Guardia, department of Analytical Chemistry of the Universitat, will be in charge of this publication after the extensive trajectory of lecturer Joseph Sneddon, who has been the director for 27 years. After half a year sharing obligations running this journal, he has finally lent the position to the professor of the Universitat de València. De la Guardia will assume the responsibility of keeping the editorial line of the journal, but will also boost the incorporation of chromatography studies, separation techniques and sensors. The journal already keeps a great level in fields like spectroscopy.

Regarding areas of application, the diagnosis of diseases, together with environmental and food analysis, they will still be the prioritised areas. Archaeometry and conservation of heritage studies will also be motivated. Thus, the journal will try to keep an editorial line in which innovation and new analytical solutions go hand in hand.
