The Alfons el Magnànim Institute has started a collection of gender and feminism studies, entitled 'Gender', directed by Rosa Roig, a political scientist from the University of Valencia. The first book is ‘Gender and TIC. Making and undoing genres and technologies', by the political scientist Núria Vergés, and which has a prologue by Anabel Forte, director of the Gender Digital Gap chair at the University of Valencia, and an introduction by Rosa Roig.
The design of the collection is by Félix Bella and the design and illustration of the cover by the illustrator Tania Vicedo.
Nuria Vergés wonders in the book what relationship gender has with technology and, even more, if technology has a gender, concluding that it does. It is questioned why in this economic sector there are more men than women and what consequences the male majority has in the sector.
It also warns about subtle and non-subtle structural gender discrimination, which is present on each side of current societies, as denounced by the UN itself year after year, which includes the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the 2030 Agenda and denounces the "digital sexist violence" analyzing what impacts they have.
On the other hand, Vergés proposes what the response of feminisms and strategies must be to incorporate more women and more LGTBIQ+ people into technologies with the aim of making them more inclusive and friendly and includes as proposals many of the feminist claims such as the reduction of salary differences, co-responsibility and caring for people, respect for the private time of workers, making hours and tasks more flexible and even offering varied, applied tasks with a social sense.
Vergés is committed to feminizing technologies and, at the same time, digital societies with the aim of eliminating or at least mitigating the gender gap that exists in the technological field.
Associate Professor of the Department of Sociology of the University of Barcelona. She was director of the Equality Unit of this university. She is currently the general director of Cures, Organization of Time and Equity in the Work of the Department of Equality and Feminisms of the Generality of Catalunya.

She is co-founder of the collective Donestech. She also has a daughter.
