“Hidrogeodía” is a day for the dissemination of this discipline and the profession of hydrogeologist. This year 2022, the United Nations had decided that the day would focus on groundwater. With the slogan "'Groundwater, making the invisible visible', a demand was made for an adequate and effective management.

The day consisted of free activities, guided by hydrogeologists, and open to all types of public, regardless of their knowledge of the subject. On 10th April, a hydrogeological itinerary was organised to visit an area with groundwater and to highlight the need to apply hydrogeological techniques to diagnose and correct problems and to stress their importance.

The objectives of "Hidrogeodía" are to raise awareness of groundwater and its importance for the development and well-being of society, but also for the proper functioning of ecosystems, as well as to highlight the role of groundwater in a context of global change, both from a climatic and socio-economic point of view.

The “Hidrogeodía” was held in the surroundings of the Natural Park of L'Albufera de València, specifically in the areas of La Muntanyeta dels Sants and Na Molins (Sueca).

Professor Arianna Renau, from the Department of Botany and Geology at the Universitat de València, and in charge of the subject Continental and Marine Hydrology in the Environmental Sciences degree, participated as a monitor of the activity together with other colleagues from the hydrogeology sector, both from private companies and the public administration. Moreover, the "Hidrogeodía" had the help of four volunteers, students from different courses of the Environmental Sciences degree of the Universitat.
