PUV joins the board of directors of the Associació d’Editors

L’Associació d’Editors del País Valencià (AEPV) has carried out elections for the renovation of the members of their board of directors, which will now be integrated by 12 publishers that represent all editing subsectors and form the Valencian territory. Maite Simon, chief of the Editing section of PUV has taken a position in one of the committees of the board, presided over by Àfrica Ramírez, from Balandra Edicions.

The publisher Fandogamia, representative of the comic publishing companies subsector, has also joined the board. The new vicepresidents are Gonçal López-Pampló, from Bromera Edicions; Rafael Domínguez, from Tirant lo Blanch and the president of the Fundación FULL, Jesús Figuerola. The secretary’s office will be taken over by Ricard Peris, from Andana Edicions, and the treasury will be taken by Pablo Navarro, from Nau Llibres. The committee will now be integrated by Immaculada Gregori, from Edicions Voramar; Lidia Martínez, from Editorial Brief, Òscar Paris, from Onada Edicions and Fernando Bloise, from Tabarca Llibres.

The Association has new short-term plans for the future, like the adaptation to the new market conditions after the economical crisis and the commitment to internationalisation. They also want to attract the participation of associate companies and support the strategic plans of the Pla Valencià de Foment del Llibre i la Lectura (2017-2021) of the Generalitat, driven by the Fundación FULL.

The AEPV groups 61 Valencian publishers, which turn over 28.11 million euros every year and employs 291 people and more that 900 external collaborators. Associate publishers edit 1,734 titles and 2.9 millions copies annually. Their actual catalogue has 20,588 titles.

Regarding books in Valencian, the previous figures include 700 titles edited in Valencian per year and more than 1,4 millions of copies produced, with a turnover of 12.66 million euros.

This information will be complemented on Monday, the 11th of March, during the presentation of results of the reading and books purchase barometer of the Valencian Community in 2018, which will take place at La Nau Cultural Centre at 11:30. The director of the survey, Roberto Corral; the president of the Fundación FULL, Jesús Figuerola; Antonio Ariño, vice-principal for Culture and Sport of the Universitat de València and Albert Girona, regional secretry of Culture will attend and participate.
