The Senate approves the Report on Ombuds Office and renews the members of the Senate in different bodies and commissions of the UV

The Senate of the Universitat de València, the highest representative body of the UV and composed by representatives of students, technical staff, management, administration and services, and teaching and researcher staff, met on Thursday, 22 February in the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry.

After the partial renewal of the members of the Senate in the electoral process at the end of 2023, the composition of different bodies and commissions of the UV was partially renewed during the last ordinary meeting.

Thus, the following have been elected as members of the Governing Council, in the group of PDI (Teaching and Research Doctor Staff) with permanent connection: José Manuel Almerich, Pedro Javier Cillero, José Manuel Claver, Emilia Ferrer, Pedro Rafael Gil, Javier Guardiola, Marcela Isabel, Begoña Milián and María Natividad Orellana. Rafael Fernández and Vicente García in the group of PDI, not doctor or without permanent connection. Laura Antón has been elected in the group of Research Staff in Training (PIF). Laura Coscollá, Carlos Javier López and Jacinto José Torrecillas were elected in the Census of Technician, management, and administration and services personnel (PTGAS). For the students body, Rim Alhakim, Laia Darós, Víctor Esteban, Miguel Ángel Lavara and Maria Vigo were chosen.

Besides, students Bruno Escribano and Josep Andreu Picó were elected as full members of the board of the Senate and Andrea Monllor as substitute.

In the Constitutional Committee, the students elected were Carlos Cucart, Cristina Cuenca, Carlos Gumbau, Miguel Ángel Lavara, Carles León, Andreu Ortí and Jennifer Perales.

Carlota Gómez joins the teaching staff committee as research staff in training (PIF) and Sandra Estefanía Berlanga as a student.

The PIF, Víctor Moreno, the PhD student Pau Díaz and the PTGAS, María Desamparados Gimenez, were elected to join the Research Commission.

The full members of the Electoral Committee elected are: for the PDI with permanent connection, Joaquín Martín. For the student body, Ismael Sahuquillo as a substitute.

Lastly, full-time university professors María José Añón, Rafael García, Elena Grau and José Manuel Pastor were elected to join the Complains Committee.


Ombuds Office

Belén Cardona, Ombuds Officer, presented the report on the activities of this university body, as established in point 5 of the session's agenda.

Doctor Cardona reported that during the 22-23 academic year a total of 132 files were dealt with at the syndicate, of which 35 were enquiries, 94 complaints and 3 mediations. These files affected a total of 169 people in the institution.

Of these cases, 5 have been dropped; 2 have been derived; 20 have not been admitted, either because the syndicate does not have competence or because other decisions were pending. The average resolution time is 26 days, and a total of 105 cases have been resolved, of which 66 have been resolved favourably and 39 unfavourably.
