The Universitat de València, through UVSports, joins the International Day of University Sports once again –on 20 September– and the European Sports Week –that will take place from 23 to 30 of this month– with a comprehensive programme of sports activities and the promotion of healthy habits meant for the university community.
During these sessions, the campuses of Blasco Ibáñez, Tarongers, Burjassot-Paterna and Ontinyent will embrace proposals for sports and physical activities of different modalities, from trainings of university teams and sports schools to dance, yoga, functional training, circuit training, pilates, bachata, tai chi, or spinning classes. The programme also incorporates proposals related with adapted sport and with the promotion of the participation of women in physical activity.
At the Blasco Ibáñez campus, the programme includes activities such as dance expression, running, kendo, yoga, salsa, aerogap, urban dance, judo or functional training, besides open trainings of the university teams such as basket, rugby, indoor soccer and handball, among other disciplines. The programme also considers adapted sports activities, such as a boccia workshop.
The Tarongers campus will offer proposals such as dance and movement, circuit training, maintenance, pickleball, aerogap, healthy back, K-POP, women self-defence, kinomichi, contemporary dance, urban dance, hip hop, muscle chain stretches and bachata.
In addition, the Burjassot-Paterna campus will have tai chi sessions, muscle chain stretches, sling training, posture correction, spinning and bachata. In Ontinyent, the university community can participate in functional training sessions, bachata-salsa and pilates.
Last face-to-face session of EMPOWER YOURSELF UV
Within this programme, EMPOWER YOURSELF UV – Mou-te amb la Uni stands out as well. It will take place on Tuesday, 22 September from 16 to 17h at the frontón, and it will be the last face-to-face session. In addition, the project offers 45 videos of 20-25 minutes of high intensity exercises, available on Youtube to continue with the routines.
The activity also allows us to discover new projects aimed at university women. To participate, you only need to wear sports clothes and a good mood to enjoy physical activity.
Share your experience and participate in the draw
The European Week of Sports invites the university community to share their experience on social media. From 20 to 30 September, those who participate can post photos and videos practicing a sport in the facilities of the Sports Service, during the trainings of the university teams or in the activities and sport schools of the UV.
To participate in the draw, it is necessary to belong to the university community of the Universitat de València, post a photo or video on Facebook, X or Instagram, and tag the official account of UVesports, @uvesports_, including the hastagh #setmanaeuropeadelesportUV.
Among the participants, equipment of the UV teams will be drawn. The draw will take place on 6 October and 5 winners will be randomly selected in each social media, whose names will be announced on the website and on the social media of Sports Services.
The complete programme, with activities, timetables and spaces of every campus, will be available on the programme of the European Week of UVsports.
The initiative intends to bring sports practice closer to all the university community and encourage students, personal staff, researchers and technical staff of management and administration services to incorporate the physical activity to their university life.
