The Universitat de València, as it stated in the statement issued last Thursday, reiterates its concern about the continuation of a conflict that directly affects Valencian public education and that, after several weeks of mobilisations and negotiations, remains unresolved, with no response that would allow progress towards a satisfactory solution.

As a public institution deeply committed to teacher training and to the Valencian educative system, we consider that the demands expressed by teachers in recent weeks refer to fundamental aspects of quality of public education and the development of the teaching profession. Therefore, they must be addressed with responsibility, a capacity for dialogue, and a genuine willingness to reach an agreement.

This public university wants to reiterate the recognition of the work carried out by teachers at all educational stages. Their role is essential for educating new generations, social cohesion, and equality of opportunities. It deserves respect and consideration from both institutions and society as a whole.

In addition, we express our concern and disapproval regarding the recent incidents that occurred during the latest mobilisations, and we convey our support and best wishes for a recovery to the injured teacher. The right to demonstrate is a fundamental right that must be made with full guarantees and complete safety for people who participate in protests. We welcome the open of an investigation to clarify these unacceptable events with the utmost transparency and we hope that, once the circumstances have been established, the corresponding responsibilities will be taken. We also call for the adoption of the necessary measures to prevent similar situations in the future.

We call again to ensure that negotiations progress as quickly as possible and with a genuine commitment to reaching an agreement that answers the demands suggested by the educational community and contributes to strengthening Valencian public education.

We reiterate our commitment to public education, to the recognition of the teaching profession and to the defense of democratic rights, besides the search for agreed solutions that contribute to the well-being and progress in our society.
