The 22nd International Conference on General Relativy and Gravitation and the 13th Edoardo Amaldi Conference on Gravitational Waves have chosen Valencia to answer some of the questions that Stephen Hawking made before die. For example, is the general relativy the correct theory of the gravity? Which is the comportment of the material that suffers extreme densities and pressures? How are the big blacks of star-mass? Which is the principal motor that produces gamma ray bursts? What happens when a massive star collapse?

Hawking said that the gravitational waves «offers a new way to look at the universe. The discovery of the GW 150914 signal was the first detection of a binary system of a big black star-mass and the first observation of the gravitational waves made by black holes fusion. Nowadays, four signals have been announced. They were produced by the collision of black holes of star origin is a cosmological distances. Everything was possible thanks to the detectors LIGO-Virgo. These detections will be one of the most important topics to speak about in this congress where the directors of the LIGO, Virgo, KAGRA and LIGO-India detectors will participate.

King Felipe VI will be the honour president of this congress which is managed by the University–Business Foundation of the University of Valencia. The congress will be in the Congress Palace of Valencia. Three awarded scientifics as Rainer Weiss, Kip S. Thorne and Barry C. Barish will participate on it. All of them were important to start the LIGO detector in United Stated and to detect these gravitational waves that one century ago was predicted by Einstein.

José Antonio Font and José Navarro are professors of Physics of the University of Valencia and the directors of this congress. Navarro is also investigator in the Instituto de Física Corpuscular (IFIC). The directors explain that there is no immediate application of gravitational waves. However, it is true that the design and the construction of LIGO and Virgo detectors due to the effort to understand the characteristics of these signals have improved the scientific and technological development. These improvements have been made in sector as the I.T., the optics, the geology, the science and the space technology, the BIG DATA, the laser systems, the sciences of classical and quantum measurements, the high-precision space-time metrology and so on.
