Transformative agreements are new contracts negotiated between libraries or consortia and publishers that transform the current business model of academic journal publishing. They are characterized to use the money traditionally destined to subscriptions (pay to read) to a new model that, in addition to paying to read, includes the price of publishing in open access.

The University of Valencia offers its researchers the possibility of publishing in well-positioned journals indexed to JCR and SJR, without having to pay APC fees.

The agreement signed by CRUE-CSIC with several publishing groups "transforms" the conditions of the contracts, and with a single payment offered by the universities, subscriptions and APC fees are covered. In this way, the research staff can choose from many journals with good quality indications and can publish at a 100% discount.

The specific conditions of the different agreements, as well as the quality indications of the affected journals, can be consulted on the Research Support Portal of the Library and Documentation Service.
