Tvmorfosis València reflects on the present and future of videopodcast

Universitat de València celebrated and streamed the Spanish edition of Tvmorfosis 2025 for Spain and Ibero-America, a forum gathering researchers and professionals to reflect on the future of media. Organised by UV in collaboration with the Association of Ibero-American Educative and Cultural Television (ATEI), this edition is title ‘Videopodcast: ¿la nueva frontera de la televisión?’ (‘Videopodcast: the new television frontier?’)
On Tuesday 26 November, experts, professionals, researchers and attendants gatheres at the Espai Vives auditorium to evaluate the emerging role of video in podcasts, its challenges and opportunities within the audiovisual sector.
The 49th edition of TVmorfosis with headquarters at the UV was inaugurated by Esther Alba Pagán, Vice-Principal of Culture and Society, participating ATEI president and Head of Patrimonio Fílmico Valenciano Alexandra Falla, ATEI general secretary Gabriel Torres, UV Audiovisual Workshop (TAU) founder and ex-Head Miquel Francés, and Head of the Principal Bureau, Head of UV Communication and Marketing and ATEI vice-president Joan Enric Úbeda.
The opening dialogue titled ‘El vídeo mató a la estrella del pódcast, o no’ (‘The video killed the podcast star, or not’) was presented by two researchers with long careers in television. Carlos López Olano (Universitat de València) and Nadia Alonso López (Universitat Politècnica de València). This conversation was previously recorded in the newly opened Universitat de València Espai Podcast and streamed in the media of ATEI.
Conducted by Joan Enric Úbeda from then, Radio Valenciana - Cadena SER journalists Jéssica Crespo and Santi Botella, and Valencian Community Cadena SER content director Julián Jiménez participated and offered their experience in podcast for the documentary videopodcast. The session is titled ‘València 2025. Rebirth since the DANA’.
‘Radio, the sound dimension of podcast and videopodcast’ is the title of the following debate with the Cadena SER and Francisco University of Vitoria professor Luismi Pedrero.
Then, Valencia Head of Institutional Relations of Iberian Media contributed with her session ‘Videopodcast in a present newspaper’. After that, Ediciones Plaza responsible for Audiovisual Innovation and Contents Rafa Lupión, and Valencia Plaza podcast La Paella Rusa member and UV pre-doctoral researcher Marta Meneu reflected on the bet on visual podcast in a digital newspaper, focusing on the case of Valencia Plaza.
Carlos López Olano comes back to the stage for a new session title ‘El Mur: a videopodcast for television’.
Then, the youngest speakers came up. UPV students Paula García Martínez and Gabriel Argente of UPV podcast Espontáneamente and videopodcast Estudio 808 (in production), and UV students Ainhoa Taroncher and Emma Pérez of the UniLove podcast addressed the university podcast experience. Marta Meneu and Luismi Pedrero debated over the new frontier of television within the same young videopodcast line.
The conference met its end with a transnational perspective in the round table title ‘Videopodcasting in an infoxicated world’, participating ATEI president and Patrimonio Fílmico Colombiano Head Alexandra Falla; ATEI general secretary and University of Guadalajara SURTC Director Gabriel Torres; and UV full-time university professor in communication Guillermo López.
