During the evening of Thursday 12 March, the Valencian government approved a resolution by which the presential university educational and training activity is temporary suspended.  

Yesterday the Universitat de València had already agreed to maintain its academic and work calendar, according to which the Universitat remain closed between 16 and 20 March (both inclusive). 

The Executive Council, in implementation of the provisions of the Valencian government has approved the following measures: 

Suspension of the activities of university services 

1º. Suspension of all presential educational and training activities that at the Universitat de València, both at level of official undergraduate and postgraduate studies, including PhD studies, as well as in-house, complementary, specific and of university extension training; 

2º. Suspension of presential external internships; 

3º. Suspension of sport activities at the Universitat de València, internal competitions and the participation of UV teams in different championships and university sports competition; 

4º. Suspension of cultural, artistic and informative activities in all centres of the Universitat de València; 

5º. Suspension of presential loan and study-rooms of the Libraries of the Universitat de València; 

6º. Suspension of all official and institutional ceremonies; 

Suspension of mobility programmes 

7º. a. Suspension of new enrolments and departures of people in mobility programmes; 

      b. Cancellation of service fees, except in special cases, duly authorized; 

Customer service 

 8º. a. In the services of customer service, the telematic assistance will be prioritised; 

       b. Performance of service of the Registry Office exclusively in the morning; 

Closure of university buildings and facilities 

9º. Closure to the public of the Cultural Centre La Nau, the Universitat bookshop, all equipments, facilities and buildings of the services of sports and libraries of the Universitat, the Natural History Museum and the Botanical Garden. These facilities will be accessible only to the own staff of the Universitat de València duly accredited. 

Performance of services by workers 

10º. In accordance with the provisions of the Valencian Government, the members of the Administration and Services Staff (PAS) and the Teaching and Research Staff (PDI) will continue working, except for the presential academic activities. 

The PDI should seek alternatives to plan their teaching in a non-presential way and assist the students telematically. 

Concerning the PAS, the obligation to perform their activities includes staff attached to universities that are closed to public. 

According to the academic and work calendar of the Universitat de València, all these measures will be applied from 23 March at 00:00, with the exception of those which affect the closure of the university buildings and facilities of the sports and libraries services, which will take effect from today at 15:00. 

The measures included in this resolution will be of an indefinite nature until the Valencian Government considers the exceptional situation on which this Resolution is based to be stabilised. 

In the document of the resolution, the principal Mª Vicenta Mestre and the Executive Council of the Universitat de València 'call for the responsibility of the university community and thank all the staff of the Universitat for their commitment and dedication in this exceptional situation of pandemic.' 

In the document they affirm: 'we will be at your disposal and by your side to give you the support you need at any time.'
